Answer: vertebral column and backbone are same.
Explanation:
Notochord is a rod like structure present in lower animals . It is completely filled.
Vertebral column is also a rod like structure but it is hollow i.e. it has space inside it in which spinal cord is present .It is modified form of notochord present in higher organisms like humans.
Vertebrates are so different from both of these. They are the organisms having vertibral column.
