The invention of dark matter is related to the incapacity to understand the dynamics of disc galaxies, when using general relativity. As well, the incapacity to understand the gravity dynamics of galaxy clusters is at its basis.
It expresses the inaptitude of general relativity in the first place, and the lack of understanding that moving masses create gravitational induction to other moving masses. Moreover, it expresses the lack of understanding that gravity can become anisotropic by this induction effect, which is equivalent to say that the gravitational constant can act as a vector, locally, when using the well-known Newtonian gravity notation.
When applying correctly the effects of gravitational induction, there is no need for "dark matter".
The invention of dark energy is related to the incapacity to understand that cosmological redshift is not an expression of the expansion of the universe, but mainly caused by the interaction of light with matter in the universe.
Moreover, the light circles around the universe (or at least the part in which we live) by the large mass that the universe has, and the redshift steadily increases with each rotation. When not understood, it apparently requires a magic force or dark energy.
By using the above correction, there is no need for dark energy either.
