Old syllabus

Computer science has C++ and Information practices has java

And in IIT if you will choose CSE then you have to study both of the topics

both languages has its own importance

As per the latest syllabus

Both Computer science and information practices approximately are same

◆ there is a very small difference is of few topics like computer science has boolean logic and information practices has PANDA and NP and rest of the syllabus approx is same. ( python and MYSQL )

☆ Mostly science student take Computer Science and Commerce student take Information practices.

So, both are best to opt while preparing for IIT

but I will suggest you to take computer science.
