what's the difference between ' He has been to london' and ' He has gone to london?

He has been to London means that he has visited London. It's not necessary that he is there at the present time.

He has gone to London means that he is in London right now, at the present time.

In the first sentence we come to know that the person has visited London.
while in the second sentence we come to know that the person is in London.
