What's the difference between Ionic Radius and Atomic Radius ???
Answers
Answer:
Explanation: Ionic radius is distance b/w nucleus to outermost electron of an ion
whereas atomic radius is distance b/w nucleus to simply valance electron of atom
hope this ans helps u
ANSWER
atomic radius :- distance between centre of nucleus to outermost electron
ionic radius :- when ion formed the size of atom is increased if atom gain electron and decrase if atom lose electron. so ionic radius is also distance between centre of nucleus to outermost electron but different from atomic radius in terms of length as ions have size differ from parent atom
this is due to ionic radius the properties of elements does not change
for example in f block atomic radius first increase and then decrease but ionic radius study decrease
