Difference between transgranular and intergranular fracture :

When fracture occurs through grain boundaries it is called as intergranular fracture and when occurs through grains is called transgranular fracture.

Intergranular fracture occurs generally at higher temperature because at higher temperature grain boundaries are weaker regions whereas Transgranular fracture occurs at lower temperature because at lower temperature grain boundaries are stronger than grains itself.
