DM is an abbreviation for “Doctorate of medicine”. It is a 3 years post graduate super speciality degree; awarded for a course in the field of medicine after completing “MD or DNB”.

Basically, in layman language Indian medical school hierarchy is as follow :-

• MBBS for 5.5 years

• then, MD (postgrad) for 3 years

• and then, DM (super speciality) for 3 years.
