what's the meaning of direct proportion and inverse proportion

shuklaabhishekp79xr1: Inversely Proportional: when one value decreases at the same rate that the other increases.
Example: speed and travel time

Speed and travel time are Inversely Proportional because the faster we go the shorter the time.

As speed goes up, travel time goes down
And as speed goes down, travel time goes up
This: y is inversely proportional to x
Is the same thing as: y is directly proportional to 1/x
Which can be written:
y = kx

the direct proportion are those as one of the quantity increases the other also increase while in
Inverse if one increase than other decrease that is if a and b are two quantity. .
then in direct proportion
as a increase b also increase a-b
and in Inverase is
a - 1/b
as a increase it b goes down at this ratio

gautam96: thanks dear
Sefatullah1: i appreciate it
