The concentrated ore is then roasted in the presence of excess of air at about 1200 K. Zinc sulphide plus oxygen gives zinc oxide plus sulphur dioxide. Zinc oxide is mixed with powdered coke and heated to 1673 K in a fire clay retort, in which zinc oxide is reduced to zinc metal

if zinc is in form ofcarbonate Ore then the process through which it can be extracted is cancellation so coke is used to remove amount of carbon from the ore to get pure metals znic.
