Next come Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These are the small and rocky inner planets known as the terrestrial planets. After Mars, there is an asteroid belt that separates the inner planets from the outer ones. The outer planets are called the jovian planets, meaning huge gas giant.

ANSWER:

Asteroid  Belt separates the 'terrestrial planets' from the Jovian or gas planets in space.

EXPLANATION:

The asteroid belt lies between 'Mars' and 'Jupiter'. Planets in the solar system can be classified into Jovian and terrestrial planets and one more thing with them is their position, composition and other features is different to each other.

Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus are the Jovian planets and Venus, Mercury and earth are the terrestrial planets. The other most important difference is about the surface of terrestrial planet and Jovian planets. The surfaces of terrestrial planets are solid and the surface of Jovian planet are gaseous.
