The main set back of Democracy in chile was that it was not as empowered as the then strong military coup. It resulted in the triumph of the coup while chile was in dire need of democracy and civilian rule.
In 11th September. 1973 General Augusto Pinochet arranged a United States backed up military coup which overthrew president Salvador Allende and his party the Unidad Popular Government and and ended civilian rule.
