Shifting cultivation is known as 'Podu' in the coastal areas and 'Vegad' in Kolami dialect and 'Padaka' in Gondi dialect of Adilabad district. Shifting cultivation done on hill slopes is called 'Konda Podu' and 'Chalka Podu' on flat lands.
