Answer:

ADDITION

1/2 + x = 5/6

x = 5/6 - 1/2

x = 5/6 - 3/6 [LCM is 6]

x = 2/6

x = 1/3

SUBTRACTION

a)If 1/2 is being subtracted from x

x - 1/2 = 5/6

x = 5/6 + 1/2

x = 5/6 + 3/6 [LCM is 6]

x = 8/6

x = 4/3

b) If x is being subtracted from 1/2

1/2 - x = 5/6

1/2 - 5/6 = x

3/6 - 5/6 = x

-2/6 = x

-1/3 = x

MULTIPLICATION

x * 1/2 = 5/6

x = 5/6 ÷ 1/2

x = 5/6 * 2/1 [Or simply 2]

x = 10/6

x = 5/3

DIVISION

x÷1/2 = 5/6

x = 5/6*1/2

x = 5/12
