Let , the number that should be added to -5/12 to get 1/4 be = x

Then , According To Question ,

$\frac{ -5 }{12} + x = \frac{1}{4}$

$x = \frac{1}{4} + \frac{5}{12}$

$x = \frac{3 + 5}{12}$

$x = \frac{8}{12}$

$x = \frac{2}{3}$

Therefore , The required answer is 2/3.
