Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number to be added be x.

Then 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/5 + x = 3

Taking L.C.M,

(15+10+6+30x)/30 = 3

(31 + 30x) = 30 * 3

31 + 30x = 90

30x = 90–31

30x = 59

x = 59/ 30

x = 1.9666….

So the number 1.9666… should be added to get 3

We can take 1.96666 as approximately 2

1/2 + 1/3 + 1/5 + 2

0.5+0.3+ 0.2+2 = 3

( Even if you take 1.9666 you will get 2.966 which is approximately 3)
