❥︎ Given :

What should be added to (  \frac {1}{-2} - \frac {3}{4} \: of \: \frac {-8}{5} ) so that the sum is the product of  \frac {-7}{50}  \: and \: 1 \frac {1}{4}  ?

❥︎ To find :

The number

❥︎ Solution :

Let the number be x.

→ x +  \frac {1}{-2} - \frac {3}{4} × \frac {-8}{5} =  \frac {-7}{50} × 1 \frac{1}{4}

→ x -  \frac {1}{2} - \frac {-6}{5} =  \frac {-7}{50} × {5}{4}

→ x -  \frac {1}{2} + \frac {6}{5} = \frac {-7}{40}

→ x +  \frac {7}{10} = \frac {-7}{40}

→ x =  \frac {-7}{40} - \frac {7}{10}

→ x =  \frac {-35}{40}

→ x =  \frac {-7}{8}

 \therefore Hence,  \frac {-7}{8} should be added to (  \frac {1}{-2} - \frac {3}{4} \: of \: \frac {-8}{5} ) so that the sum is the product of  \frac {-7}{50}  \: and \: 1 \frac{1}{4}.
