Answer: \frac{7}{12}

Concept: This question is from the 'fraction' topic. In this type of question like 'what should be added' or 'what should be subtracted,' we should always concentrate on the given statement.

Given: two fractions to obtain another number by operations on it

To find: What should be added to \frac{11}{48} get \frac{13}{16}

Solution:

Let 'x' should be added in \frac{11}{48} to get \frac{13}{16}

Now write it according to the above statement

                     \frac{11}{48} +x=\frac{13}{16}                .......................(1)

                     x= \frac{13}{16}-\frac{11}{48}

take L.C.M. of the denominator of the fractions

                    x= \frac{39-11}{48}

                    x=\frac{28}{48}

By simplifying

                    x= \frac{7}{12}

Hence, \frac{7}{12} should be added to \frac{11}{48} get \frac{13}{16}

We can cross-check our answer by putting the value of 'x' in equation (1)
