You should subtract the first one from the latter ....
*Normally ~
6540 - 1247
=5293
*By using an equation ~
let the number that should be added to 1247 to get 6540 be X
So, 1247 + X = 6540
(taking X to the other side)
~X = 6540 - 1247
~ X = 5293
You get the same answer by both
