According to question,

$\frac{( - 16)}{3} + x = \frac{1}{9}$

So now let us take the left variable which is available to us to the right hand side. On doing this, there will be a change in sign from negative sign to positive sign.

$x = \frac{1}{9} + \frac{16}{3}$

$x = \frac{1 + 48}{9}$

$x = \frac{49}{9}$

Hence, 49/9 should be added to (-16/3) to make 1/9
