What should be added to

( \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{3}{8} ) to get  \frac{ - 7}{25} ?

★Solution★

In order to find out the required number that should be added to

( \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{3}{8} ) to get \frac{ - 7}{25},

we have to subtract ( \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{3}{8} ) from \frac{ - 7}{25}.

Now,

\frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{3}{8} =  \frac{2 + 3}{ 8}  =  \frac{5}{8}

So,

\frac{ - 7}{25} -  \frac{5}{8} =  \frac{ - 56 - 125}{200}  =  \frac{ - 181}{200}

Therefore,

 \frac{ - 181}{200} should be added to ( \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{3}{8} ) in order to get  \frac{ - 7}{25} .
