Let the no to be added is x

Now A/Q,

x+(-5/8)=2/9

x-5/8=2/9

8x-5/8=2/9

9(8x-5)=2×8

72x-45=16

72x=16+45

72x=61

x=61/72.

Hence, the 61/72 should be added to -5/7 to get 2/9.
