Let the number be x

 \sf \large  \frac{ - 5}{9}  + x = 1

 \sf \: x = 1 -  \frac{5}{9}

L.C.M. of 1 and 9=9

 \implies \frac{1}{1}  \times  \frac{9}{9}  =  \frac{9}{9}  \\  \\  \implies \frac{5}{9}  \times  \frac{1}{1}  =  \frac{5}{9}  \\  \\  \implies \frac{9 - 5}{9}  = \frac{4}{9}

So  \large \frac{4}{9} should be added to  \large\frac{ - 5}{9}to get 1
