i am assuming that by "by" u mean division.
Now, let's assume that x is that number which when added to (-5/8) results in (-3/2)
So, the equation can be written as:
(-5/8)+x=(-3/2)
x= (-3/2)-(-5/8)
x= -3/2+5/8
x= {(-3x4)+5}/8 ( by taking LCM)
x= (-7/8)
