Heya !!!

Let X should be Added to -7/8 to get 5/9

Therefore,

-7/8 + X = 5/9

-7 + 8X/8 = 5/9

9(-7+8X) = 8 × 5

-63 + 72X = 40

72X = 40 + 63

72X = 103

X = 103/72

Verification:-

-7/8 + X = 5/9

LHS = -7/8 + X

=> -7/8 + 103/72

=> -63 + 103/72

=> 40/72

=> 20/36

=> 10/16

=> 5/9

RHS = 5/9

Hence,

LHS = RHS = 5/9

So , 103/72 is added to -7/8 to get 5/9.
