Given :

  • Sum of two numbers = 2/5
  • Given Number = 8/9

To Find :

  • Second Number.

Solution :

\longmapsto\tt{Let\:other\:no.\:be=x}

A.T.Q :

\longmapsto\tt{\dfrac{8}{9}+x=\dfrac{2}{5}}

\longmapsto\tt{x=\dfrac{2}{5}-\dfrac{8}{9}}

\longmapsto\tt{x=\dfrac{18-40}{45}}

\longmapsto\tt\bold{x=\dfrac{-22}{45}}

So , The second number is -22/45...

VERIFICATION :

\longmapsto\tt{\dfrac{8}{9}+\dfrac{(-22)}{45}=\dfrac{2}{5}}

\longmapsto\tt{\dfrac{8}{9}-\dfrac{22}{45}=\dfrac{2}{5}}

\longmapsto\tt{\dfrac{40-22}{45}=\dfrac{2}{5}}

\longmapsto\tt{\cancel\dfrac{18}{45}=\dfrac{2}{5}}

\longmapsto\tt\bold{\dfrac{2}{5}=\dfrac{2}{5}}
