what should be added to each term of the ratio 7:9 so that the ratio becomes 5:6

7+3=10

9+3=12

10:12=5:6

Let, x be added.

Then,
 \frac{7 + x}{9 + x}  =  \frac{5}{6} \\ or \: 42 + 6x = 45 + 5x \\ or \:  6x  - 5x = 45 - 42 \\ or \: x = 3

So, 3 is to be added to each term.
