Given: Twice the rational number minus 7 by 3.

To find: What should be added to above term to get 3 by 7 .

Solution:

  • Let the number which should be added be x.
  • So we have given that x should be added to twice the given rational number that is -7/3 in order to get the answer 3/7.
  • Now as per the question  multiply 2 to rational number given, we get:

            2 ( -7/3 ) = -14/3

  • Adding x to it we get:

           -14/3 + x

  • Equating it with 3/7, as per given question, we get:

           -14/3 + x = 3/7

           x = 3/7 + 14/3

           x = 9 + 98 / 21

           x = 106 / 21

Answer:

             So x = 106 / 21 should be added to the given rational number to get 3/7.
