Solution
Let the number added is x.
=> (-8 / 5) × 2 + x = 5 / 8
=> (-16 / 5) + x = 5 / 8
★ Now, add (16 / 5) on both the side to get the answer.
=> (-16 / 5) + x + (16 / 5) = 5 / 8 + (16 / 5)
★ Here, both (-16 / 5) and (16 / 5) are cancelled out. Now, x is left here in this Solution.
=> x = 5 / 8 + 16 / 5
=> x = (25 + 128) / 40
=> x = 153 / 40
.°. x = 153 / 40 should be added to twice the rational number (- 8 / 5) to get 5 / 8.
Note: If you want to know in decimal, then it is 3.825.
