Answer:

Let the number should be added be "a".

(x-4) (x+6) + a = (x-3) (x-8)

x(x+6) -4(x+6) + a = x(x-8) -3(x-8)

x² + 6x -4x - 24 + a = x² - 8x - 3x + 24

x² + 2x - 24 + a = x² - 11x + 24

a = x² - 11x + 24 - x² - 2x - 24

a = - 13x

THE NUMBER TO BE ADDED TO (x-4)(x+6) TO GET THE PRODUCT (x-3)(x-8) IS -13x
