To manage the Population distribution :

We have to adopt the population distribution policies. Many Countries have adopted a range of policies to deal with rural - urban migration, the major source of growth in the largest cities. We also have to promote family planning for this.

Paragraph on Population distribution :

The way in which people are spread across the earth's surface is known as the pattern of population distribution. More than 90 % of the world's population lives in about 30 % of the land surface. The distribution of population in the world is extremely uneven. The crowded areas are South-east Asia, Europe and north-castern North America. Very few people live in high altitude areas, tropical deserts, high mountains and areas of equatorial forests. Almost 75 % of the world's people live in Asia and Africa. 60 % of the world's people stay in just 10 countries. All of them have more than a 100 million people. China followed by India are the two most populous countries.

Density of the population :

Population density is the number of people living per square km. The average density of population in the whole world is 45 persons per square km. South Central Asia has the highest density of population followed by east and South-East Asia. Average density of population in India is 382 persons ner square km.

Factors affecting Population distribution :

Topography

People prefer to live on plains rather than on mountains and plateaus because plains are suitable for farming, manufacturing and servie activities.

Climate

People generaly avoid living in very hot or very cold regions like Sahara desert, polar regions of Russia, Canada and Antarctica.

Soil
