So the best way to prevent it is to keep them apart; that's what paint does, or the spray-on wax and oil coatings that the car protection companies sell. Keep your tools dry; wipe down your bike after a ride; keep the water away and it can't rust.

To protect combine harvester from rust:
- Combine harvesters are a very good use of modern technology that does so many functions like to pull up crops, to separate crop grains from the husks, to separate grains from any dirt and soil, and to pack them in bags according to weight. They also collect the husks.
- But, being made of iron, they are easily prone to rust, and it causes huge losses to the farmers.
- So, zinc plating of harvesters is done often to reduce rusting. Painting with rustproof paints is also done. Amalgamation is not that efficient to prevent rusting.
