Solution:

Let say N should be subtracted  from 5a+4b+12  to get -4a+2b+19

=>  5a+4b+12 - N =  -4a+2b+19

=>   5a+4b+12 = -4a+2b+19  + N

=> N = 5a+4b+12 - (-4a+2b+19)

=> N = 5a+4b+12 + 4a  -2b - 19

=> N = 9a + 2b - 7

9a + 2b - 7 should be subtracted  from 5a+4b+12  to get -4a+2b+19
