Here, we have to find a number that should be  subtracted from −2/3 to get –1

  • Let us assume 'x' be the number that  subtracted from −2/3 to get –1

       It can be mathematically written as

      \frac{-2}{3} -x=-1

  • Now in order to find the value of 'x' we will have to rearrange the equation

      x=\frac{-2}{3} +1

      x=\frac{-2+3}{3}

      x=\frac{1}{3}

So, 1/3  should be subtracted from −2/3 to get –1.

Answer:

according to question we have to find number to be subtracted from −2/3 to get –1

Let the number which is to be subtracted be x

According to the question,

-\frac{-2}{3} - x = - 1

 x = \frac{-2}{3} + 1     -------------------------------------(By transposing terms)

cross multiplying terms

x = \frac{-2 + 3}{3}

x = \frac{1}{3}

Thus, 1/3  should be subtracted from -2/3 to get -1.
