( \frac{5}{6}  -  \frac{7}{8} ) \\ lcm \: of \: 6 \: and \: 8  = 24 \\  \frac{20 - 21}{24}  =  -  \frac{1}{24}  \\ -  \frac{1}{24}  +  \frac{1}{2}  \\ lcm \: of \: 2 \: and \: 24 \\  \frac{11}{24}

therefore 11/24 should be subtracted from (5/6 - 7/8) to get 1/2
