Let the number be x.

According to the question,

 \frac{5}{9} - x = \frac{4}{21}

 = > \frac{5}{9} - \frac{4}{21} = x

 = > \frac{35 - 12}{63} = x

 = > \frac{23}{63} = x

Hence, x or the number = 23/63.

Adityakaprawan: where 35. comes
MrsBadger: 9 × 7 = 63, therefore 5 must be multiplied with 7 and thus it gives 35.
