This is my thinking that if you want to solve any mathematical question,first you should write problem in an arranged way. Which makes things a bit clear,which becomes needful in complex mathematical problem.
So back to your question:basically your question is,what is the value of x in this equation-
-(2/3)-x=-(1/6) (we can arrange problem in this way)
by using simple manipulation:
x=-(2/3)+1/6
x=(-4+1)/6
x=-(3/6)
x=-1/2
so we have to subtract -1/2 from -2/3 to get -1/6.
