Let the number be 'a'

'a' should be subtracted from thrice the rational number 13/5 to obtain 5/13.

3(13/5) - a = 5/13

39/5 - a = 5/13

a = 39/5 - 5/13

a = [39(13) - 5(5)]/65

a = (507 - 25)/65

a = 482/65

The number is 482/65
