The answer is; -2x² + 3y² + xy - 10

GIVEN

Minuend = 3x²-4y² + 5xy + 30

Difference = -x² - y² + 6xy + 20

TO FIND

The subtrahend

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We are given,

Minuend = 3x²-4y² + 5xy + 30

And,

Difference = -x² - y² + 6xy + 20

We know that,

Minuend - Subtrahend = Difference.

Putting the values in the above expression we get,

3x²-4y² + 5xy + 30 - Subtrahend = -x² - y² + 6xy + 20

Taking the Minuend to the RHS

Subtrahend = -x² - y² + 6xy + 20 - (3x²-4y² + 5xy + 30)

Changing the sign in the expression;

= -x² - y² + 6xy + 20 -3x² + 4y² - 5xy - 30

Rearranging the like terms

= -x² -3x² -y² + 4y² +6xy - 5xy + 20 - 30

= -2x² + 3y² + xy - 10

Hence, The answer is; -2x² + 3y² + xy - 10
