hey mate here is your answer:
Explanation:
A few years ago, a government survey revealed that as many as 12% scientist and 38% doctors in U.S. are Indians and in NASA 36% or 4 out of 10 scientists are Indians. If that not enough to satisfy India’s prowess in the scientific and corporate field then digest this- 34% of employees at Microsoft, 28% at IBM, 17% at Intel, 13% at XEROX and more than 12% at google are Indians. This emigration of highly trained or qualified people from the particular country is known as brain drain. When a country becomes a chief exporter of academic talent then, brain drain said to occur.
So why do people leave their country after qualification to settle abroad? What are the consequences of such immigration especially on educational system? What policies can be adopted to stem such movement from developing nation to the developed country?
These may be roughly three primary reasons of brain drain:
- People are seeking for better salaries or due to the presence of better technologies in the other country.
- One reason may be the political instability in the countries of origin. Thus they lose confidence in the government and prospect for a better life.
- Lastly, many scholars have been sent abroad for better education, when they are once out in one way or other, they leave their family and nation behind with the hope that a better life can be achieved elsewhere.
This is not a current trend, a drastic emigration observed during 1970-1980. We had a rapidly growing population and millions of engineers graduating every year, but no jobs were being generated as entrepreneurs had left the country to setup their businesses abroad. The exodus is majorly observed from developing nation to developed countries. Brain drain harms the origin place in two ways. Firstly, technical expertise is lost, and secondly, the country’s economy is damaged. Losing technical expertise is like a cancer for developing nation.
The possible solution of converting brain drain into brain gain may be following:
1. Political instability must be avoided. Better governance might make the youngsters believe in their government and assure them a good future.
2. Offering high wages to the skilled persons may stop their hunt for better jobs in other nations.
3. Providing best educational infrastructure in educational institutions will prevent the migration of scholars from their home.
4. Favorable taxation for entrepreneurs will not only stop brain drain but also increases the employment in the nation.
For a country or an organization condition of brain drain occurs when it starts exporting its principal assets. It will make its stem weak both technically and economically. Brain drain has deep rooted germs in the nations. We must have to strengthen our education and government system to stop the exodus of assets. Education system plays a vital role in preventing such exodus. We have been observing several kinds of migrations since our childhood. Firstly we migrated from rural areas to urban in search of better education and then from one city to another for higher qualification. After qualification we indeed need better living standards, so we start planning to migrate to another country where we can fulfill all our expectations. So, brain drain is long process it starts when we start seeking good life.
