What should the role of the Government be in society as it relates to income inequality? In other words, should it be the governments job to get rid of the wide gap in income between those who have and those who don't?

Here as u can see, it is the fundamental task of the govt. to provide the necessary requirements to the poor. So, in case of income inequality, govt. can provide an amount of money to the poor as capital to build up their buisness( it is already done by recent nobel prize winner Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee from India).
