Why should we do to protect animals?

They are living things, similar to humans. They deserve to be treated as a part of the family since there is the fact that animals share a large percent of homologous genes with humans - typical examples are chimpanzees who are 96% to 98% similar to humans.Our “job” as the most intelligent beings on the planet is to protect every single life form (organism) on Earth. We have a conscience, and we have to use that conscience in order to protect those that are weaker than us. Of course that there are stronger animals than us, but that’s not the point - the point is if you, on example, notice a wounded lion, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t help the creature even if you know that it can kill and “eat” ya in a moment.
