Given:

  • First decrement  of  6 \%
  • Second decrement of  9 \%

To Find:

  • Single decimal multiplier for the decrement.

Solution:

Let' s assume

            x = 6 \%

            y =  9 \%

For the one single discount,

         Formula of successive decrement is

    \ %\% decrement = - x\% - y \%  + \frac{x \times y }{100}

Putting the values

    \ %\% decrement =  -6 \% - 9 \% + \frac{6 \times 9}{100}

                           =  -15 + \frac{54}{100}

                           =   - 15 + 0.54

                           =   - 14. 46 \%

Thus, the single decrement is -14.46 \%
