Given :  A number  decrease by 3% followed by a 6% increase?

To Find : single decimal multiplier  to represent the same

Solution:

Let say  Number  = 100N

decrease by 3%

= (3/100)100N

= 3N

Number after decrease = 100N -  3N = 97N

6% increase

= (6/100)97N

= 582N/100

= 5.82N

After Decrease final number = 97N +  5.82N

= 102.82N

=10282N/100

= 10282 * 100N/100 * 100

= 10282  * 100N/10000

= 1.0282 * 100N

1.0282 multiplier will be used to decrease by 3% followed by a 6% increase
