Given :  A number  increase by 9% followed by a 6% decrease?

To Find : single decimal multiplier  to represent the same

Solution:

Let say  Number  = 100N

 increase by 9%

= (9/100)100N

= 9N

Number after increase = 100N + 9N = 109N

6% decrease

= (6/100)109N

= 654N/100

= 6.54N

After Decrease final number = 109N -  6.54N

= 102.46N

= 10246N/100

= 10246  * 100N/100 * 100

= 10246  * 100N/10000

= 1.0246 * 100N

1.0246 multiplier will be used to increase by 9% followed by a 6% decrease
