This poem explained the perspective or situation of an individual, who happened to receive advice from an elderly person. This poem is written by A. E. Housman.

The latter taught him not to focus or rely much up love. The elderly person was definitely superior to the young  person in terms of maturity, wisdom, experience and everything else, but the young person did not pay any heed  to what the elderly person advised him.

So he just ignored them. later he realized everything and understood what consequences an come out of love. a wise person knows how to balance his life, his emotions of love, and everything else just like how he can balance his currency.

Answer:

The situation that is encountered by the poet in the poem 'When I was One and Twenty' was all about falling in love and facing its consequences.

Explanation:

In the poem ‘When I was One and Twenty ‘by A.E. Housman, the speaker says that when he was twenty-one, he did not heed the advice given to him by an older and experienced person of love. The narrator was advised against falling in love and losing his heart.

The older man advised that one could give away money and jewels but should keep one’s heart and in turn mind intact. The advice given is that one should not allow another person to be in control of your life or emotions. He advises the younger generation against falling in love and losing one’s senses.

Unfortunately, the poet lost his heart and mind at the age of twenty-two and was facing the pain, despair, and hopelessness that comes with losing your heart to lost love.
