Ulapur was a very small village, with an indigo factory nearby. The factory was owned by an Englishman. As a result of the factory, which provided employment to the people of Ulapur, and the Englishman’s persistence, the village had a post office.

The few small buildings were run down and there was dense greenery everywhere. The villagers were serious folks who spent most of their time, between the indigo factory and their homes.

Ulapur, is the setting in Rabindranath Tagore’s (1861 – 1941) short story ‘The Postmaster’.

There is a story called as ’ulapur postmaster’ and ulapur is a place which is a part of that story.

Ulapur is basically a village in Kolkata.

It was somewhere situated in a rural area of West Bengal.

This city has nothing in virtual.

There are no schools, colleges, libraries here.

There were no buildings also in this village. T

/here was only one post office, which was mud.
