What sounds more right?

Had the room been brighter, I would have been able to search for my cell phone
or
Had the room been brighter, I would be able to search for my cell phone.

Why is the answer you choose right?

The first one,"would be" is used."Would have been" is not used because it belongs to third condition.

(The third conditional is the way we say that something is contrary to past facts. Or in other words: it didn't really happen.)

The way to write such a sentence is the following:

If + Past Perfect, + Would Have + V3

collidingfanthoms: No. I could use would have been for a singular person as well. There is a grammatical error which I am not aware of yet.
