Eklavya learned many magical and spiritual skills of archery which Guru Drona's son ( Ashwatthama ) and Arjun has also not learned . Eklavya always used to hide and watch Drona teaching other students archery techniques and used to learn those techniques , that's why he had so many skills better than any other student of Drona. Eklavya saw Drona as his guru fro heart . This special act of Eklavya stunned Guru Drona and the Pandavas . Drona always wanted to make Arjun the best archer , so he asked Eklavya to give his right hand's thumb as a ' Guru Dakshina ' . Eklavya followed his rules and cutted off his thumb .
