Untouchability has been a major problem in out country even before independence.
People feel not to touch the lower caste people such as ati shudras and chandalas historically,Nowadays problem has narrowed to a greater extent.
Dr. BR Ambedkar took it over himself to eradicate this problem as he himself was a Dalit.He made many reforms in society and gave untouchability a major part of Indian constitution..
