If your bike is wet and you put it away to store it for a couple days, the water will cause the parts to rust. If you use your bike everyday than it should be OK, you don't need to wipe it because the natural movement the next day will help to displace the water. If you have used it and will not use it again for some time, for example the chain gets wet and before you put it away you can dry the chain and other parts of the bike to prevent rust.

We're going to use something like WD-40 or a chain lube, and we want to keep the bike parts lubricated and well oiled. If they're well oiled, the grease will prevent rust from occurring.
